Because there are so many pictures and moments to share, I thought it best to create a page dedicated to my journey to Yellowstone National Park. And from this page, I’ll link to pages on subjects (think: horses, trails, calderas, etc.)
In case anyone is pondering a trip to Yellowstone, I recommend a visit to folks who enjoy wide open spaces, incredible vistas, animals, hiking and a tidy cabin in the woods.
A short synopsis:
My good friend, Marla, asked me earlier this year if I’d like to visit the park with her family. Because we had such a great time in Thailand over New Year’s, I said yes.
The trek: We departed from my house Aug. 5, first bound for Marla’s brother’s house just south of Salt Lake City, Utah. There, we would catch up with family (and a new baby, too), do some hiking, ogle the mountains, and finally continue northward to Montana.
Our stay: We landed in West Yellowstone, Montana, on Aug. 8, where we had reservations at the Rustic Wagon Cabins. The cabin and RV park is located just a few short miles from the park’s northwest entrance. That was a blessing (not AS much driving).
We spent five days in this beautiful corner of our country. I fell in love with the incredible skies, green trees and the general smell of plant life run amok. The cowboys were easy on the eyes, too. The mountain men, however, needed to find some good pants (more on that later).
I’ve broken down the trip into a couple key sections: Utah and Yellowstone Parts 1-5.
