I’m here at work with a stomach full of food, wondering when I can go and share time with family and friends.
We’re lucky the newsroom had a few dollars left over to splurge on a catered dinner for us on Thanksgiving. We do have a lot to be thankful for, after all (mostly that we’re still employed in such precarious times for newspapers). Fortunately for me, I’m happy in my job and enjoy working with the crew here.
We were anxious for food today, and it arrived just after 2 p.m. It was more than adequate, and the staff did NOT go hungry. We’re still nibbling …
I made my own vegetarian version of shepherd’s pie with some veg-appropriate stuffing, too. While the company does provide us with some vegetarian fare, it’s not often enough to fulfill us … all day, all shift long.
You know how Turkey Day is. You say your thanks and keep shoving food down your throat. It’s what we do!!
What I’m thankful for:
- A wonderful family and a fabulous group of friends. (I miss you, Mom and Dad, and can’t wait for your visit at Christmas.)
- The smiling face of my oh-so lovable dog, Katy, and the purrs of man-cat, Mayo.
- A great life filled with adventure and laughter.
- A new president in waiting. I’m anxious and excited to see what you can do …
I’ve also posted a cat video over on Musings. Check it out here.
