Well, I’ve been good for two whole days … sigh …
I hope the peer pressure and general motivation will keep me on track to lose my 10 percent in four months. It shouldn’t be too hard, considering several friends have lumbered up to the bandwagon with me here at work.
Today, I cobbled together a simple meal plan for the day:
- Breakfast: plain, low-fat Greek yogurt with a few nuts and grains
- Lunch: basic green salad with corn and cucumbers, five steamed shrimp, an almost-invisible sprinkle of feta cheese, and a lemon juice-olive oil dressing (one tablespoon, total).
- Snacks: Orange slices and edamame
- Dinner: undecided, but if I don’t find some chocolate, I might die
I’m sucking down water to stave off the munchies. The stomach is not used to this diet that is sadly lacking in starch and those nasty fillers I love and hate.
It doesn’t help that we’re going nuts with our O.C Fair coverage. There’s a lot of talk about fried food. Oh boy … I need my headphones.
Industry woes
There was sobering news from my old stomping grounds in West Palm Beach, Fla. I read a list of people at The Palm Beach Post who applied for and were accepted in a voluntary severance plan. So many people I know will soon be out of their jobs. It’s sad and so scary. I’m not sure how they’ll crank out a solid newspaper wtih the small crew left behind.

Don’t forget almonds! And I know you might not want to hear this, but you can always not starve yourself and just start going to the gym more…
Totally … I’ll never be accused of starving myself .. hahah .. NOT gonna happen. But portion control is key.
