The dog park in Orange has finally reopened after almost a year of watching the grass grow, literally.
There were a lot of grumpy dog owners in the city and vicinity when our measly 3-acre fenced-in area was padlocked. From the freeway this morning I spotted four-legged creatures frolicking in the dense, fresh grass and realized Katy’s favorite pee spot was once again in business. Weeeee!
I got home and promptly suited up Katy and her best pal Shelby for some face time with friends. Lucky for us, not many people apparently know the park has reopened, so we had much of the grass to ourselves and about 25 other dogs.
Shelby was on her best behavior while she fetched her favorite tennis ball over and over and over again. Despite repeated theft attempts by strangers in fur, she was polite and didn’t bite anyone’s face off.
Katy frolicked with a few like-minded free spirits, then decided it was too sunny for a giant black dog, so she headed for the shade.
Here are some photos. Enjoy!
- Katy checks out the new grass
- Shelby shakes hands with Molly, who offered to chuck the ball
- Shelby shares her ball with Trigger and Mia

I miss my Shelby! She looks like she’s behaving. Thank god!
Many mwahs for the girls.
